Public Works
The Division of Public Works contains various units that maintain city streets, shade trees, storm and sanitary sewers, traffic signals, trash disposal, the Transfer Station, public parks, buildings, and grounds.
Public Works also efficiently maintains a large assortment of service vehicles and equipment to provide excellent maintenance in the City of Summit.
Did you know? Trash is collected weekly on your regular trash day, including all holidays. Curbside recycling is now collected on your trash day. There is a modified recycling collection during certain holiday weeks; click here to view holiday recycling collection information. Modified schedules will also be posted on the website homepage. Dial-A-Truck
The Dial-A-Truck program is an appointment-only service designed to assist the residents of Summit with the disposal of large, heavy bulky items at no cost.

Leaf Collection
The City offers curbside leaf collection twice a year, during the Spring and Fall, from residential properties.

Transfer Station
Public Works manages the Municipal Disposal Area, the City of Summit Transfer Station where solid wastes and recyclables are collected and marketed, and where leaves are composted.

Public Works is responsible for snow and ice control on 80 miles of Summit streets.
