A winter storm warning has been issued for Summit, NJ
Snow is expected to begin early tomorrow morning, February 13, and continue through the afternoon with some periods of potentially heavy snow. The National Weather Service is currently predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow accumulation possible for Summit. Go to weather.gov to view the current forecast.

Keep water, non-perishable food, and an extra set of warm clothes in the car in case you get stranded during winter weather.
Avoid unnecessary travel during inclement weather and use caution if you need to drive somewhere; slower speed, slower acceleration, slower steering, and slower braking.

The following city services are currently impacted by the predicted inclement weather. Updated information during the storm and during potential restoration and clean-up efforts will be available on the city website and on city social media channels.
City offices
Due to the inclement weather forecast, all city buildings and offices will have a delayed opening at 12PM on Tuesday, February 13.
Receipt of bids scheduled for 11AM on Tuesday, February 13, has been postponed until 11AM on Wednesday, February 14.
Public Works and Transfer Station
The Municipal Transfer Station will have a delayed opening at 12PM on Tuesday, February 13, to allow crews to assist in snow removal operations.
Recycling collection: 9:30AM 2/13/24 update: Due to worsening weather conditions, recycling collection has been suspended for today, Tuesday, February 13. If your recycling is scheduled to be picked up today and it is not, it will be picked up tomorrow, Wednesday, February 14. Please do not call City Hall offices or initiate a See Click Fix/Report a Concern request unless recycling is not collected tomorrow.
Trash collection: At this time there is no change to trash collection for Tuesday, February 13. Please clear a path for crews to access trash containers. If containers are not accessible, crews will not remove trash.

Parking
Due to the inclement weather forecast, the open, upper levels of the Broad Street and Tier garages are closed effective immediately and will be closed tomorrow, February 13. Parking is also prohibited on the ground level of the Broad Street Garage effective immediately through February 13.
Please remove vehicles from city streets before the snow begins to fall late tonight. Parking is temporarily prohibited on all city streets when snow is forecast overnight and during all snow, ice, and inclement weather storm events. Vehicles left on the roadway may be ticketed or towed at the expense of the owner. The parking ban remains in effect post-storm until streets have been plowed sufficiently from curb-line to curb-line.
Parking will be available in the Broad Street Garage and Tier Garage on Springfield Avenue beginning at 7:30PM tonight, February 12, at no cost for residents needing to move cars off city streets during plowing operations. Vehicles must be removed immediately once plowing operations are complete.
