[ARCHIVED] JCP&L reporting widespread power outages in Summit

fallen tree

JCP&L is reporting widespread power outages throughout Summit with over 6400 customers currently without power, and with over 20,000 households affected in Union County. Many of these outages were caused by trees falling on power lines. Crews are working to safely address emergency issues first and to determine the extent of the damage. It is highly likely that some power outages may continue through the night into Wednesday. JCP&L is currently unable to provide estimated power restoration times. As soon as that information is available to the City of Summit, it will be provided.

Multiple roads are closed with barricades and will remain closed until fallen trees and downed wires are removed. Please do not go around barricades or approach downed wires. Report all power outages to JCP&L 888-544-4877.

And please check on your neighbors, especially the elderly.

Thank you.
