[ARCHIVED] CDC Recommends Wearing Fabric Face Coverings in Public

cloth mask

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  is recommending that people wear cloth or fabric face coverings, which can be made at home, when making essential trips into public spaces such as grocery stores and pharmacies. The recommendation to wear masks in public is voluntary and will help prevent people who are asymptomatic with COVID-19 from spreading the infection to others. It is intended to be used to help maximize the impact of State of New Jersey stay at home and social distancing executive orders, and not replace them.

The CDC recommends constructing your own cloth mask to help ensure that doctors and nurses can obtain access to medical-grade surgical or N95 masks amid a widespread shortage of personal protective equipment and other necessary medical supplies.
