SUMMIT, N.J., March 20, 2020 – To comply with guidelines issued by the State of New Jersey Department of Health and closing of Summit City Hall to the public, the Common Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at 6:30PM is not open to members of the general public.
The City of Summit has added an option for citizens to view the meeting live online on its YouTube channel.
To view the live meeting, citizens can watch the broadcast on HTTV Verizon channel 30 and Comcast channels 36 and 34. To provide for public input, Common Council will accept comments and questions in advance of the meeting and during the meeting by email to cityclerk@cityofsummit.org. The meeting agenda is posted online.
To have a question read during the meeting, the full name and address of the sender must be listed in the body of the email. If possible, include a few words indicating the topic of the question or comment in the subject line of the email. Only emails properly identified with the full name and address of the sender will be read publicly during the meeting.
“We appreciate the patience of the public during these challenging times,” explains Common Council President Marjorie Fox. “While not ideal, these measures will allow us to move important city business forward and ensure an option for public participation while protecting the health and safety of the public, governing body and city staff.”
