At the Common Council meeting on December 3, there will be two presentations. The first presentation will be from students from the Lawton C. Johnson Middle School on their public policy projects. The second presentation will be from the director of the Summit Housing Authority.
There are two ordinances for a vote. The first ordinance relates to authorizing the sale of 71 Summit Avenue and the second would adopt the revised Development Regulations and Ordinances.
There are a few resolutions to be voted on, including the approval of certain standard administrative financial transactions, the conditional designation of a developer for the Broad Street West Redevelopment project, contracting for supplemental snow and ice removal for sidewalks and open spaces, increasing the number of residents on the Parkline Steering Committee and declaring vacancies in the Police Department and Division of Public Works.

There is an ordinance for a vote to approve the revised Development Resolutions and Ordinances (DRO). The Planning Board has spent two years revising the DRO. Among the major changes: the document is more streamlined and easier to read, and it now contains design standards, sustainability guidelines, and accessory agricultural uses. This comprehensive rewrite of the DRO is based on the comments received during the Master Plan re-examination process. The last comprehensive review of the DRO occurred more than a decade ago.
Council will also vote on an ordinance to approve the sale of 71 Summit Avenue to Family Promise. A key requirement of that sale is for the historic exterior façade of the building to be maintained.
Resolutions for Consideration
There are a few resolutions for consideration to: (a) establish the principal and interest due in 2020 for municipal, sewer, utility and school debt; (b) renew the city’s participation in the Joint Insurance Fund; (c) conditionally designate a developer for the Broad Street West Redevelopment project; (c) negotiate a contract for supplemental snow and ice removal for sidewalks and open spaces; (d) an amendment to increase the number of residents on the Parkline Steering Committee; and (e) declare vacancies in the Police Department and Department of Public Works.
Next Council Meeting: The next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 17 at 7:30PM.
