The City of Summit has recently launched a home energy audit program to promote energy efficiency and help Summit residents reduce home energy use. The Summit Home Energy Insight program was created to bring awareness to the resources available to residents to help save energy and money.

This program encourages participation in the NJ Home Performance with Energy Star (HPwES) Program, which can help homeowners qualify for up to $4,000 in cash rebates and up to $10,000 in zero-interest financing for home energy improvements that reduce energy use by up to 30 percent. The Summit Home Energy Insight Program is offering $49 home energy assessments to Summit residents to encourage their participation in the HPwES Program. The City of Summit has selected Ciel Power LLC to perform these assessments, after which Ciel will provide the homeowner(s) with a customized treatment plan to improve the home’s energy efficiency and information on qualifying for HPwES Program incentives.

Mayor Nora Radest recently had an energy audit performed on her home in Summit, which was filmed by HomeTowne Television as part of their TV series “See You Around Town,” hosted by Mayor Radest. In the episode, Ciel Home Energy Auditor John Sladky and Ciel Home Performance Consultant Natalie Tocci determine if Mayor Radest’s house is losing or wasting energy, and discuss possible improvements that would increase energy efficiency.
