The next Common Council meeting will be held on Wednesday June 5 as Tuesday, June 4 is Primary Day. There will be a presentation by Fire Chief Eric Evers on the progress of the design for the new fire station. Below is a summary of the ordinances and resolutions to be considered. Please go out and vote.
Ordinance and Resolutions
There will be one ordinance for hearing and a vote that concerns the city vacating a sewer easement that currently runs in the backyards of properties on Knob Hill and Blackburn Place. The city is vacating this easement because these properties already connect to existing sewer line adjacent to the street. There will also be five bond ordinances introduced. These ordinances relate to bonds appropriating monies for the following projects and equipment: (i) $2.1M for the purchase of Division of Public Works, Fire Department and Police equipment, road and storm water work, and improvements to City Hall and other municipal buildings; (ii) $1.57M for the acquisition of 7 Cedar Street; (iii) $101,000 for improvements to parking lots and infrastructure; (iv) $426,000 for improvements to the sewer infrastructure; and (v) $1.37M for road resurfacing work on Butler Parkway, Caldwell Avenue, Clark Street, Dayton Road, Huntley Road, Willow Road, Eaton Court, Milton Avenue, Gary Road, and New Providence Avenue.
There are a few resolutions for consideration: (i) renewal of a number of liquor licenses; (ii) authorization of annual salaries for certain employees; (iii) agreement to contribute 50% to the cost of installation for a mural on the Broad Street parking garage; (iv) authorization for the acquisition of a hybrid car to replace an existing parking services vehicle; and (v) authorization for a change order of approximately $100K in additional costs for the new Community Center, which brings the entire project to approximately $6.387M.
