Please be advised of the following city schedule changes and closures for Christmas and New Year’s.
City office closures
City offices will close at 3PM on December 24 and will be closed December 25-26 and January 1-2. The Community Center will close at 3PM on December 24 and will be closed on December 25; click here to view open gym programming information for December 26-28.
Recycling and trash collection changes
There is a modified recycling collection schedule for the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s.
Recycling schedule changes for Christmas:
- Collection on Monday, December 22, Tuesday, December 23, and Wednesday, December 24, is unaffected and will continue as planned.
- There is no collection on Thursday, December 25.
- Thursday collection moves to Friday, December 26, and Friday collection moves to Saturday, December 27.
Recycling schedule changes for New Year’s:
- Collection on Monday, December 29, Tuesday, December 30, and Wednesday, December 31, is unaffected and will continue as planned.
- There is no collection on Thursday, January 1, 2026.
- Thursday collection moves to Friday, January 2, and Friday collection moves to Saturday, January 3.
Recycling items should be placed at the curb by 6AM on the scheduled day for weekly pickup, or the night before. Please use the SeeClickFix app or the Report a Concern module on the city website to report missed pickups.
The household trash collection schedule does not change on holidays; it is picked up as usual. More information on trash and recycling is available at cityofsummit.org/recycle.
Transfer Station closures
The Transfer Station will be closed on December 25 and January 1. cityofsummit.org/transferstation.
Parking holidays
December 25-26 and January 1-2 are parking holidays in Summit with no fees required for on-street parking, or parking in municipal lots and garages.
Now through Wednesday, December 31, there are no fees required for parking at 90-minute on-street spaces, the Bank Street lot, and the ground level of the Tier garage (for up to two hours). Time limits will be strictly enforced. Fees are still required in the Park and Shop lots on Deforest Avenue, the YMCA/Library parking lot, and in all long-term lots where resident or employee parking permits are required. Fees are also still required at all other on-street spaces (15-minute, 30-minute, 3-hour, 5-hour, 12-hour spaces). More information is available at cityofsummit.org/parking.
