Provided below is some information from NJ Transit on the potential upcoming rail strike:
We want to inform you about a potential disruption to NJ TRANSIT rail services due to a potential strike by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen. If an agreement is not reached, a rail stoppage may occur as early as 12:01 a.m. Friday, May 16th.
Potential Impact:
In the event of a strike, the following would occur:
- Complete Suspension of NJ TRANSIT Rail Services: All commuter trains will cease operations. Please note that bus service and light rail trains will continue to operate on their regular schedules.
- Limited Special Bus Services: Beginning Monday, May 19th, limited bus service will be offered from select park-and-ride locations to major transit hubs.
- Cross-Honoring of Tickets: NJ TRANSIT rail tickets and passes will be cross-honored on all NJ TRANSIT bus and light rail lines. NJ TRANSIT tickets and passes will not be honored on other services (e.g., MTA, SEPTA, PATCO, PATH, etc.)

The City of Summit Parking Services Agency is sharing information on some of the alternate commuting options from Summit:
- Park & Ride Lot #15 – We offer 105 parking spaces per day, first come first serve, for $3.00 per day. This is for the Lakeland bus service to NYC; more info at lakelandbus.com.
