Dr. Rubino is an alumnus of Rutgers Medial School, completing his obstetrics and gynecology residency at University Hospital. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the hospital by the Governor earlier this month.
“I am grateful for the confidence that Governor Christie has in me and I look forward to serving on the University Hospital board,” explains Rubino. “The medical school and hospital provided me with an excellent, affordable education. Giving back is a driving principle for me and I plan to work on behalf of University Hospital with the same vigor I have for Summit.”
Rubino was first elected to the Summit Common Council in 2011. He was re-elected in 2014 and is currently in the second year of his second term. Dr. Rubino served as Council President for two successive terms, in 2014 and 2015. He has also served as President of the Board of Health. Dr. Rubino has been active on many initiatives for Summit including the community center renovation and Glenside parking expansion projects, the downtown parklet and ridesharing pilot programs, establishing bike lanes on DeForest Avenue and the Summit Park Line project to convert abandoned rail lines for use by pedestrians and cyclists. Dr. Rubino is a committed advocate for Summit at a county level, frequently representing the city at Union County Freeholder meetings.
He has been a resident of Summit for 21 years, and is married to Dr. Susan Rubino. They have three children; Anthony, Abigail and Danielle.
