The City of Summit Parking Services Agency recently launched a digital option for downtown employees to obtain and renew annual parking permits online on September 1, 2016. The new digital permit system is managed by license plate recognition with no physical permit to place on a vehicle.
The new deadline for downtown employees that park in municipal lots and garages to renew annual parking permits is October 15, 2016. New permits will be valid through August 31, 2017. Parking permits are required by the City of Summit for all employees to park in municipal parking lots and garages.
Employees working within the Downtown Business District must obtain a parking permit to park in municipal employee parking lots. Summit residents currently working downtown do not need to renew their permit at this time.
The new digital process requires employees to create a personal account online with a username and password. Once the registration process is complete, users will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to initiate the permit renewal process with a credit card online.
The Parking Services Agency is available to assist downtown employees with the permit renewal process if they are unable to independently initiate the process online. Please bring required documentation of employment and vehicle registration along with an application signed by an employer to Parking Services offices on the first floor at City Hall on 512 Springfield Ave.
For employees currently pre-paying for parking, once the renewal application is approved, Parking Services will automatically transfer the current pre-payment to the new system.
