The City of Summit Department of Community Services has announced the start of a roads micro-surfacing project beginning August 19 and continuing through August 24, weather permitting. During the micro-surfacing process, access to driveways will be prohibited until the application is dry. Residents should park on neighboring side streets before 7 AM. All streets will be fully re-surfaced unless otherwise noted below. The schedule is as follows:
Friday, August 19: Kings Hill Court, Ramsey Drive, Little Wolf Road, Club Drive, Hickory Road
Monday, August 22: Drum Hill Drive, Oak Ridge Avenue (Magnolia to Rotary)
Tuesday, August 23: Briant Parkway, New England Avenue, Beverly Road
Micro-surfacing is a cost efficient surface treatment to renew a road surface and extend the life of the pavement. During the process, a layer of asphalt emulsion is blended with finely crushed stone for traction to protect the pavement from moisture penetration and oxidation.
Emergency vehicles will always have access to roads in critical situations. If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Community Services (DCS) at 908-273-6404. If it is necessary to leave cars on the street overnight, please contact the Summit Police at 908-273-0051 to avoid being ticketed. Residents are encouraged to check the City of Summit website daily for scheduling updates and other project-related information.
