March 4 Common Council Meeting Recap

At last night's meeting, several important topics were discussed regarding community safety, local initiatives, and upcoming challenges:

Police Update

Mayor Elizabeth Fagan asked Summit Police Chief Steven Zagorski for an update on crime and police activity. Chief Zagorski highlighted how the department uses a vehicle detection system to monitor locations and catch criminals. He talked about his frustration at the recent bout of activity and how the Summit PD is committed to ensuring the safety of residents using technology and resources. He also reminded residents to lock doors, remove fobs and garage door openers from vehicles, and activate home security systems at night. He stressed the importance of calling 911 if anything suspicious is observed or if an alarm is triggered—Summit Police can respond within seconds. There will be no fee if it is a false alarm.
