The Summit Free Market Committee is a student-led, volunteer-run initiative that hosts monthly events at the Transfer Station located at 40 New Providence Avenue. Residents can bring reusable, yard-sale quality items to share, and take whatever they may want or need at no charge. Since its inception in 2008, the Summit Free Market has served more than 5000 residents and has kept over 175 tons of reusable material from the waste stream.
Residents must have a permit to access the Transfer Station to attend. Permits can be purchased online through the City of Summit Parking Services Agency.
Please be aware of the following guidelines for the Summit Free Market:
60-Minute Time Limit: Visitors are limited to 60 minutes per Summit Free Market event. This helps ensure that all community members have an opportunity to participate and benefit.
No Resellers Allowed: The Summit Free Market is intended to serve as a space for community sharing and exchange. In line with these core values, reselling items collected from the event is not permitted.
Signs are posted to inform visitors of these policies. Any observed violations may result in immediate expulsion from the event and future Summit Free Market events.
Residents are asked to follow these guidelines from the Summit Free Market Committee when donating items. Visit the Summit Free Market page for more information.
