SPD Activity blotter November 3 to 16, 2025
11/03/2025—At approximately 1334 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a Deforest Avenue business. Just prior to contacting police, the caller stated they observed an unknown female suspect place multiple bottles of baby formula in her purse and exit the store without purchasing the merchandise. On-scene investigation revealed the suspect took five bottles of Similac 360 Total Care Infant Formula and four six-packs of Similac 360 Total Care Infant Formula. The total value of stolen items was $152.51.
11/06/2025—At approximately 0145 hours a 25-year-old male from Summit was arrested and charged with simple assault. The defendant was processed and transported to Union County Jail.
11/07/2025—At approximately 1226 hours a report was taken for a stolen bicycle that just occurred. The bicycle, which was left unsecured outside a Union Place business, was a red Specialized Rockhopper Bicycle valued at $533.
11/09/2025—At approximately 1800 hours patrol officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Glenside Avenue near Stiles Road. On-scene investigation resulted in the arrest of a 39-year-old male from Irvington for driving while intoxicated. The defendant was processed and released with a pending municipal court date.
11/12/2025—At approximately 2337 hours patrol officers were dispatched to the area of Milton Avenue near Willow Road for a report of attempted burglary to a motor vehicle in progress. While en route, officers observed a 22-year-old male from Newark matching the description of the suspect standing near the bus stop on Broad Street near Gary Road. He was immediately detained until further investigation confirmed he was the suspect in question. As a result, he was arrested and charged with one (1) count of criminal attempt, one (1) count of criminal trespass, and one (1) count of 3-16.2, city ordinance for motor vehicle protection. The defendant was processed and released with a pending court date.
11/15/2025—At approximately 1459 hours patrol officers were dispatched to the area of Kent Place Boulevard and Passaic Avenue for a report of a road rage incident where a knife was reportedly brandished. Prior to arrival, officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle and detain the accused, a 60-year-old male from Chatham. Further investigation resulted in his arrest, and he was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. The defendant was processed and released with a pending court date.
