Activity blotter September 8 to 21, 2025
09/08/2025—At approximately 1033 hours, patrol officers responded to the area of Springfield Avenue and Kent Place Boulevard for a report of a motor vehicle accident. On-scene investigation revealed a 54-year-old male from Summit, who was operating a vehicle under the influence, crossed the double yellow line and crashed into a parked, unoccupied vehicle. As a result, the driver was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, in addition to several other motor vehicle violations. He was subsequently processed and released with a pending municipal court date.
09/10/2025—At approximately 0607 hours, a 32-year-old female from Brooklyn was arrested and charged with simple assault. The defendant was processed and released with a pending municipal court date.
09/12/2025—At approximately 1058 hours, a report was taken for a theft that occurred from a Locust Drive garage. The victim stated she observed her white Weize-brand bicycle inside her garage when leaving for work at approximately 0900 hours on 9/11/25. Upon returning home at approximately 1900 hours that same day, she discovered the bicycle was missing from her garage. The bicycle is valued at $200.00.
09/14/2025—At approximately 0725 hours, a report was taken for a theft that occurred at Tatlock Field. Prior to calling, the victim stated he placed his black SwissGear backpack along the fence near Butler Parkway prior to exercising. Upon returning to the backpack’s last known location, he found it was no longer there. During a canvass of the neighborhood, patrol officers were able to locate the backpack near the intersection of Fay Place and Canoe Brook Parkway. A short time later, the victim’s cell phone was located on the side of the road in Chatham. Following that retrieval, all items taken were back in the victim’s possession.
09/18/2025—At approximately 0755 hours, a 19-year-old male from Summit was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The defendant was processed and transported to Union County Jail.
09/20/2025—At approximately 1945 hours, patrol officers responded to a Maple Street restaurant for a report of a theft. A review of surveillance footage displayed a suspect removing the victim’s wallet from her purse, which was hanging on the back of her chair, before walking to the bathroom. The suspect then exited the bathroom and placed the victim’s wallet back in her purse prior to exiting the establishment. It was later determined that an American Express credit card and a Chase Bank card were taken during the incident.
