Activity blotter August 11 to 24, 2025

08/16/2025—At approximately 1149 hours, patrol officers responded to an Ashwood Avenue business for a report of a theft in progress. Upon arrival, the suspect, a 47-year-old male from Hammonton, was arrested for an outstanding NCIC warrant out of New York. The defendant was charged as a fugitive from justice, processed, and transported to Union County Jail pending extradition.

08/16/2025—At approximately 2107 hours, patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop which resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old male from Newark for an outstanding traffic warrant out of Woodbridge. The defendant was processed and released with a pending court date.

08/19/2025—At approximately 0140 hours, patrol officers responded to Aubrey Street for a report of a dispute in the street. On-scene investigation revealed a 46-year-old male from Rahway, who was operating a vehicle under the influence, struck another vehicle prior to the disturbance. As a result, the driver was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, in addition to several other motor vehicle violations. He was subsequently processed and transported to Newark Police Department for an outstanding warrant.

08/19/2025—At approximately 0900 hours, a 28-year-old male from Summit was arrested and charged with stalking and contempt. The charges originated from an incident that occurred on 08/14/25 at approximately 0132 hours. The defendant was processed and transported to Union County Jail.

08/20/2025—At approximately 0038 hours, patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop on Broad Street for a violation of obstructing traffic. On-scene investigation led to the arrest of a 40-year-old male from Newark for driving under the influence. The defendant was charged with several other motor vehicle violations, processed, and released with a pending municipal court date.

08/20/2025— A 25-year-old male from Summit voluntarily responded to police headquarters to turn himself in for charges originating from an incident that took place at Overlook Hospital on 07/29/25. The defendant was arrested and charged with three (3) counts of aggravated assault on a health care worker, as well as causing false public alarm. The defendant was processed and released with a pending mandatory Superior Court date. 

08/22/2025—At approximately 1148 hours, a 52-year-old female from Summit was arrested and charged with simple assault. The defendant was processed and transported to Union County Jail.

08/23/2025—At approximately 1912 hours, patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop on Broad Street for a violation of failing to maintain a lane. On-scene investigation led to the arrest of a 27-year-old male from Summit for driving under the influence. The defendant was charged with several other motor vehicle violations, processed, and released with a pending municipal court date.

08/24/2025—At approximately 1500 hours, a 44-year-old male from Millburn Township was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The defendant was processed and transported to Union County Jail.

08/24/2025—At approximately 2134 hours, patrol officers responded to Prospect Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident. On-scene investigation revealed a 36-year-old male from Wayne, who was operating a vehicle under the influence, struck another vehicle prior to police arrival. As a result, the driver was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, in addition to several other motor vehicle violations. He was subsequently processed and released pending a municipal court date.

08/24/2025—At approximately 2315 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a Summit Avenue business. The caller stated that just prior to contacting police, an unknown male actor left their establishment without purchasing two bottles of alcohol, totaling $55.53. A search of the area revealed negative findings for the suspect.
