On Saturday, March 8, 2025, at approximately 01:24am, the Summit Police Department was dispatched to a residence on Edgewood Road for a report of a burglary to a residence.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who reported that she left her residence at approximately 5:45pm and returned home at approximately 12:30am. Shortly after returning to her residence, the victim discovered that a second floor window had been broken, allowing the suspect(s) to gain access into the home. Unsure if the suspect(s) were still inside the residence, the homeowner dialed 911 prompting an immediate response. The first Summit Police Officers arrived on scene within two (2) minutes, who immediately conducted a thorough search of the interior of the home, which yielded no suspect(s). A subsequent exterior check of the property was also conducted with negative results. The Summit Police Department’s Detective Bureau and Union County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit were activated and responded to process the scene.

According to the victim, among the stolen items were several pieces of jewelry, including a family heirloom necklace with an unknown value at this time.

It is believed that the suspect(s) may have parked on Orchard Street during the burglary. Although we have, and will continue to canvass the areas, the Summit Police Department’s Detective Bureau is requesting residents on Edgewood Road and Orchard Street review their surveillance cameras between the hours of 5:00pm-1:30am and report suspicious activity. The investigation remains ongoing, and any additional information related to the burglary will be released as it becomes available. As always, please remain vigilant and report all suspicious activity.
