For the past eight years, he has volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician on the Summit First Aid Squad and is a former member of its Board of Trustees. Vartan was a cadet in the inaugural class of the Summit Police Department Summer Youth Academy, and stayed on at the request of the organizing officers to assist with the planning and execution of the program for the next four years.

At age 13, Vartan began working as an umpire for Summit Junior Baseball. While in high school and college, he worked at the Summit Area YMCA as a lifeguard and swim instructor, and in management at the Madison YMCA. Currently, Vartan is in his third year of employment as a sales representative with Nobel Biocare, a global leader in dental implant technology.

Greg Vartan is a proud graduate of Summit Public Schools. While at Summit High School, he part of the theater program, was drum major in the "Pride of Summit" marching band, and served as president of the 2010 senior class.

Vartan graduated from Lycoming College with a dual Bachelor Degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice. He served an unprecedented three terms as president of the student senate. While attending Lycoming College, Vartan met his fiancée Megan Cunningham. He enjoys travelling, staying active outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
