Public Service

Greg Vartan is a fourth-generation resident of Summit, NJ, representing Ward II on Common Council. From 2016 to 2018, Vartan served as a member of the Planning Board and was its liaison to the Environmental Commission. He previously served as a member of the Recycling Advisory Committee.  

For the past twelve years, he has volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician on the Summit First Aid Squad, is currently the Acting Crew Chief of the Sunday Night Crew, and is a former member of its Board of Trustees. Vartan was a cadet in the inaugural class of the Summit Police Department Youth Academy, and stayed on at the request of the organizing officers to assist with the planning and execution of the program for the next four years.

Professional

At age 13, Vartan began working as an umpire for Summit Junior Baseball. While in high school and college, he worked at the Summit Area YMCA as a lifeguard and swim instructor, and in management at the Madison YMCA. Vartan transitioned to the private sector, working in sales and business development in the dental space. Currently, Vartan is in sales management for Ansell Healthcare, a global leader in the safety industry.

Education/Personal

Greg Vartan is a proud graduate of Summit Public Schools. While at Summit High School, he participated in the theater program, was Drum Major in the "Pride of Summit" marching band, and served as President of the Class of 2011 in his Sophomore and Junior years.

Vartan graduated from Lycoming College with a dual Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice. He served an unprecedented three terms as President of the Student Senate. While attending Lycoming College, Vartan met his wife. Megan. He enjoys travelling, staying active outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
