Ahead of the expected storm, Governor Murphy declared a State of Emergency effective at noon today. NJ Office of Emergency Management has also implemented a partial travel restriction and authorized the removal of abandon vehicles along roadways when needed.
Weather reports indicate the snowfall should begin between 6PM and 8PM in Union County with a predicted accumulation of one to three inches of snow overnight. The temperature is expected to rise in the morning bringing rain and creating a slushy mess. Union County is under a flash flood warning until 1PM Sunday.
Temps are expected to drop to 7 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday evening. Please be prepared for ice on sidewalks and roadways, and take extreme caution while walking or traveling.
We ask that citizens only travel if absolutely necessary, and keep cars in driveways and off streets to allow Division of Public Works crews to remove snow and effectively treat ice on roadways.
Thank you.
