The City of Summit is announcing the schedule for city services and operations for remainder of the 2018 holiday season.
City offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 24 and 25, and on Tuesday, January 1, 2019. These days are parking holidays in Summit with no fees required for on-street parking or in municipal lots and garages.
On Saturday, December 22, no fees are required for on-street parking at 90-minute spaces or in long-term parking lots and garages (Broad Street garage, Elm Street, Sampson at LCJSMS and Chestnut St lots). The 90-minute time limit will still be strictly enforced for on-street parking spaces to encourage turnover. Fees are still required in the Deforest Park & Shop lots, YMCA/Library and Bank St lots, and on the first level of the Tier garage. Parking on the upper levels of the Tier Garage is free.
Household garbage is collected on all major holidays, if the holiday falls on a regular pickup day.
The City of Summit Transfer Station will be closed on Tuesday, December 25 and Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
Curbside pickup of leaves for the fall season has concluded. Residents may deposit leaves in brown compostable bags at the Transfer Station at any time during the calendar year.
Curbside pickup of Christmas trees will begin on Wednesday, December 26 and will continue through Friday, January 25. Please remove all decorations and place trees at the curb. Do not put trees in plastic bags. Wreaths will not be collected at the curb with trees. Residents may dispose of wreaths with household trash or at the Transfer Station in the upper level trash pits.
The next Dial-a-Truck curbside bulky item pickup is scheduled for January 24. Please call 908-273-6404 to schedule a pickup. A limited number of spaces are available.
Office hours for Mayor Nora Radest are canceled on Wednesday, December 26 and Thursday, December 27. In 2019, Mayor Radest will be hold office hours on Wednesday mornings from 9AM to 11AM, Thursday mornings from 10:30AM to 12:30PM, and Thursday evenings from 6PM to 7:30PM.
