At 7:29am, the Summit Police Department received a report of a Middle School student overhearing another student allegedly talking about posing a threat to the Middle School.

One of the students who overheard this notified their parents, who then notified the Summit Police Department. Police responded quickly and after conducting a brief investigation, deemed the threat to be noncredible.

We commend the student who came forward and informed an adult about what they heard, which reinforces the importance of 'see something, say something'. We encourage all students in our schools to inform a trusted adult when they see or hear something that causes them any concern. We thank our partners at the Board of Education and Lawton C. Johnson Middle School for assisting us in our investigation to ensure the safety of our school community.
