The Summit Police Department and Department of Community Programs are hosting the 2024 National Night Out tonight, August 20, beginning at 6PM on the Village Green, located at 356 Broad Street.
Summit will join thousands of communities around the United States to celebrate this annual community-building event. Featuring a variety of state, federal, and municipal level agencies, National Night Out provides a chance for community members to come together with law enforcement individuals.
The event will feature displays and demonstrations from various federal, state, and county law enforcement agencies, in addition to the Summit police and fire departments, Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad, and Division of Public Works.
Food trucks, bounce houses, and other amusements will open at 6PM, featuring a bubble artist performance at 6:15PM and demonstration from Master Yoo's Summit Martial Arts Taekwondo at 7:30PM. All performances will be held in the children’s entertainment area on Elm Street.
The annual Blessing of the Badges will occur at 7PM and Brian Kirk and the Jirks will perform a concert at 7:15PM on the main stage on the Village Green. Free hot dogs will be provided at the Summit PAL food cart. All funds raised at the dunk tank, featuring Summit police officers and firefighters, will be donated to a local family in need.
