Weekly blotter May 20 to June 2

5/22/2024—At 1036 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at an Ashwood Avenue business. The victim stated that just prior to contacting the police an unknown individual stole an Amazon Alexa speaker, valued at approximately $60.

5/23/2024—Stephen Britt, 65, of Summit was arrested and charged with simple assault. Mr. Britt was processed and released with a pending court date.

5/24/2024—Wilbert Perez-Esquivel, 51, of Summit was arrested and charged with theft. Mr. Perez-Esquivel was processed and released with a pending court date.

5/29/2024—At 1934 hours a report was taken for a stolen motor vehicle parked on Briant Parkway. The victim stated they had left the keys in their unlocked vehicle while taking a walk. When they returned to the area the vehicle was missing. Taken was a black 2022 Mercedes GLE, valued at $57,000. The vehicle was later recovered in Newark.

5/30/2024—At 1124 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a Beechwood Avenue business. The caller stated they were alerted by a neighboring business that someone had removed a plant from a planter in front of the store; the caller did not know the date or time of the incident. The plant was described as a tropical, red-colored plant with large leaves, valued at approximately $25.

5/31/2024—Rafael Flores-Aguirre, 40, of Summit was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and threats of violence. Mr. Flores-Aguirre was processed and released with a pending court date.

6/01/2024—John Wilcox, 62, of Morristown was arrested for an active warrant out of Seaside Heights. Mr. Wilcox was processed and transported to Seaside Heights Police Department.

6/01/2024—At 0851 hours a report was taken for an attempted theft that occurred at an Iris Road residence. The caller stated that at 0047 hours an unknown male attempted to enter two parked vehicles in a neighboring driveway. Ring camera footage showed a male walking up the driveway and attempting to enter each of the vehicles. Both vehicles were locked, and the suspect was unable to gain entry.

6/01/2024—At 0921 hours a report was taken for a motor vehicle burglary that occurred at an Iris Road residence. The victim stated that during the overnight hours an unknown male entered the vehicles that were parked in their driveway. Ring camera footage captured an unknown male entering and rummaging through the unlocked vehicles. The suspect fled the area, heading east on Iris Road. Nothing was taken at the time of the incident.

6/02/2024—At 2041 hours a report was taken for a stolen motor vehicle located at a Hobart Avenue business. The victim stated they parked their vehicle in the parking lot and when they returned at 2030 hours, they noticed their vehicle was missing. The vehicle was left unlocked with the key fob inside. Taken was a green 2024 Range Rover, valued at approximately $108,000.
