Summit Fire Department has set up training exercises with Union County and surrounding fire departments beginning on Wednesday, March 20, through Saturday, March 23, including one late night session on Wednesday to accommodate volunteer departments. The training will be held at the former Bristol Myers Squibb campus in East Summit. It will be focused on search and rescue techniques and Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) training.

“This is a good opportunity to train with other departments,” explains Summit Fire Chief Eric Evers. “We respond together on emergency calls and there is a great benefit to coordination of search and rescue efforts. Thank you to BMS for offering its unoccupied building for our training exercises."

Chief Evers continues: “If you see fire apparatus on the campus later this week, there is no reason for concern.”

More information on the Summit Fire Department is available on the City of Summit website.
