The Summit Department of Community Programs is sharing information on a new youth flag football league for girls in Grades 4 to 8 that reside in Summit and New Providence. The league will be run by the New Jersey Suburban Youth Football League with support from the Summit Department of Community Programs, Summit Youth Football, and the New Providence Recreation Department.
The season will begin on Wednesday, March 13, and continue through the end of May. The registration fee is $75; interested participants are required to register online through the New Providence Community Pass system. Each team will consist of a mix of Summit and New Providence participants.
Practices will be held on Wednesdays at Oakwood Park in New Providence beginning on March 13. Players in the 12U Division (Grades 4-6) will practice from 6PM to 7:30PM and players in the 14U Division (Grades 7-8) will practice from 7:30PM to 9PM. Home games will be held in New Providence and away games will be held in neighboring towns; most games will be held between the hours of 4PM and 8PM.
Summit Youth Football will provide jerseys and flags for all players that must be returned at the end of the season. Players are required to provide the following equipment and clothing: mouthguards, turf shoes, and black shorts, leggings, or pants for games.
