Following is a joint statement from Summit Mayor Nora Radest and Council President Greg Vartan condemning Hamas and acts of terrorism in Israel.

As the Mayor and Council President of the City of Summit, we unequivocally denounce the acts of terrorism perpetrated by Hamas in Israel and mourn the loss of thousands of innocent lives. Our support stands firmly with Israel and with our Jewish community members in Summit. Our Chief of Police has proactively reached out to all three synagogues within our community, reinforcing our commitment to their safety and security. Our heartfelt prayers are with everyone affected in the region, and we fervently hope for a swift resolution leading to enduring peace.
