On July 27, 2022, at approximately 11:56PM, Springfield Police Department pursued a stolen motor vehicle into Summit. When the suspect driving the vehicle turned off Broad Street onto Washington Avenue - which is a dead end - all occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Members of the Summit, Springfield, Millburn, Union, and Union County police departments responded and collectively arrested all three suspects - two males and one female - within one hour. Springfield Police Department took custody of the suspects and the stolen vehicle as the criminal charges stemmed from behavior occurring in their jurisdiction.
