At approximately 12PM on Thursday, February 17, a Summit Police detective in an unmarked car was surveilling a 2021 BMW X4 stolen out of Montville, NJ.

When the detective attempted to pull over the vehicle at the intersection of Watchung Place and Tulip Street, the driver rammed the unmarked police car and fled the scene.

Pursuit was terminated by two Summit Police Department units after losing sight of the car on Route 24. Thankfully, our police detective is uninjured.
