Yesterday, JCP&L restored power to 1,257 Summit customers and will return power to an estimated 1,298 more today, and 1,102 more on Saturday as it continues repairs to damaged substations.

Summit Fire Department is advising residents to turn off all heat-producing appliances to eliminate fire hazards when power is restored. This includes ovens, stove stops, irons and small appliances used for hair styling. Turning off air conditioners, washers and dryers will prevent them from coming on unexpectedly when power comes back on.
The outdoor charging station in the Broad Street east parking lot and the indoor charging station at the Summit Community Center on 100 Morris Ave. will be open today from 1PM to 9PM. Weekend hours for the outdoor charging station in the Broad Street east lot are 8:30AM to 9PM on Saturday and Sunday. The indoor charging station at the Community Center will be open from 12PM to 9PM on Saturday only.

The Summit Transfer Station is adding extra hours and will be open on Monday, August 10 from 7:30AM to 3:45PM for residents to dispose of storm debris and household waste. *The Transfer Station is usually closed on Mondays.
The New Jersey State Department of Health has informed the City of Summit that there are no new cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Summit, NJ today, Friday, August 7. The total number of confirmed cases is 228. Of recent cases, the Westfield Regional Health Department has determined the following: Two cases are in the 20 to 24 age group, and one case is in the 45 to 49 age group.All were asymptomatic and tested for an unrelated reason (needing a test for travel, school, or before a medical procedure).
