[ARCHIVED] New Tatlock Tennis Court Opening Celebration Monday 6/13

The City of Summit is announcing the official opening of the newly renovated Tatlock Tennis Courts at 70 Butler Parkway on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 7:30PM. Tennis enthusiasts of all ages are invited to celebrate with Mayor Nora Radest and members of Summit Common Council at a brief ceremony followed by free tennis clinics hosted by the Summit Tennis Association. A tour of the new facility will also be provided. The event will be held under newly installed court lights, rain or shine.

The state-of-the-art courts were designed by Premiere Product Development and built by Classic Turf Construction, incorporating the latest stress concrete technique technology to eliminate subsurface changes that cause cracking and LED lighting that minimizes spill into areas outside of the courts. The courts design also includes two shaded areas with a bounce back wall for practice serves and returns.
The cost of the $635,000 court restoration project was funded by the City of Summit Capital Improvement Fund and offset by an $85,000 grant from the Union County Kids Recreation Trust and $100,000 contribution from the Summit Tennis Association.

The Summit Tennis Association hosts the Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School tennis club at the Tatlock court location along with special clinics and a senior citizen tennis program.

For information about the courts or to make a reservation for court time, please visit www.summitcommunityprograms.com or call the Department of Community Programs at 908-277-2932.
