[ARCHIVED] Programs for Senior Citizens Canceled through April 12

The City of Summit Department of Community Programs is canceling the following special events and programs for senior citizens at the Summit Community Center for the next 30 days or until at least April 12.  
 
Weekly Activities 

Yoga on Mondays at 12PM and Mah Jongg at 1PM 

T’ai Chi on Wednesdays at 10AM 

Mah Jongg on Thursdays at 10AM and Forever Fit at 1:15PM 

Yoga  on Fridays at 9:30AM Bingo on March 13 at 1PM
 
Classes and Special Events 

St. Patrick’s Day Lunch on March 17 at 12PM 

Union County History Class on March 20 at 1PM 

Painting Workshop on April 7 at 10AM  
 
The Senior Lounge at the Community Center is closed, and all Open Gym programs (for all ages) held after 5:30PM daily are canceled until further notice as well.
 
The annual PAL Egg Hunt on April 4 that is held on the Summit Village Green has also been canceled.
 
Department of Community Programs after school programs and activities for youth will continue while school is in session. If Summit Public Schools are closed, these programs will be canceled.
 
These actions are based on guidance and recommendations from health officials, and a priority to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the Summit community and city staff.
 
The City of Summit continues to closely monitor developments in the global outbreak of COVID-19, providing daily updates on new mitigation practices and protocols being implemented citywide on the city website and social media channels (CityofSummitNJ on Facebook, twitter and Instagram).
