The Summit Police Department and Department of Community Programs are announcing the 2017 National Night Out will take place on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 beginning at 6PM on the Village Green, located at 356 Broad Street.
Summit will join thousands of communities around the United States to celebrate National Night Out, a community-building event that takes place annually on the first Tuesday of August. Featuring a variety of state, federal, and municipal level agencies, National Night Out provides a chance for community members to come together with law enforcement individuals.
Displays and demonstrations by the US Coast Guard, US National Guard, Union County SWAT, NJ State Police, the FBI, and K-9 along with Summit Police, Fire, EMS, and Public Works will take place on the Village Green. This year’s National Night Out will once again feature the Dunk a Cop Tank, to benefit Madelyn Rose Smith, a 21-month old Boonton Township resident who was diagnosed with a rare mitochondrial disease before the age of one.
Food trucks, bounce houses, and other amusements will open at 6PM, followed by the Chris Clark Bicycle Stunt Show at 6:15PM and the annual Blessing of the Badges at 6:45PM. The Kicks will perform on the main stage at 7PM. Free hot dogs will be provided at the Summit PAL food cart.
Summit’s 2017 National Night Out is sponsored by the Grand Summit Hotel, Summit PAL, and JAG Physical Therapy.
