From December 11 to December 23, 90-minute street meters in the center of downtown Summit will be bagged, offering complimentary parking with a 90-minute time limit strictly enforced to encourage turnover and deter long-term parking.
A special drop-off mailbox for letters to Santa Claus is located in Summit's Promenade Park, directly next to MONDO on Springfield. Children are encouraged to write letters to Santa, and drop them off in the Santa Mailbox before December 24. Although there will be no direct mail response to the letters mailed from Santa, kids will know that Santa received their letter by what is under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning. Enjoy holiday music and horse and carriage rides through downtown Summit on Saturdays December 9, 16, and 23 from 1 to 4PM. Boarding location is Lyric Park, at the corner of Bank Street and Beechwood Road.
The Miracle on Elm Street holiday event will be held on Sunday, December 10 from 2 to 6PM on the Village Green, located at 356 Broad Street. Ice skating will be held in the Elm Street parking lot, free of charge; no registration is required. The event will also feature music, cookie decorating, food vendors, bonfires, and more. Attendees are invited to take a free polaroid picture with Santa inside a 25 foot-high snow globe.

The Department of Community Programs is hosting a holiday kids camp from Tuesday, December 26 to Friday, December 29 for Summit students in grades one through eight. The camp will be held from 8:30AM to 3:30PM at St. John’s Church, located at 587 Springfield Avenue. The program will be led by DCP summer camp counselors and Share the Fun Club staff, and will feature arts and crafts, games, winter activities, and more. Participants are asked to bring a packed lunch for each day of camp. There will be an opportunity to order pizza each day for $2.50 per slice. The program costs $90 per child; limited spaces are available. Register in advance online with Community Pass.
